Après la réforme territoriale de mars 2015, le canton de Rochefort-Nord n'existe plus.
La fraction cantonale ainsi que les deux autres fractions cantonales de Rochefort sont regroupées et composent le canton de Rochefort[1].
Les 4 communes Île-d'Aix, Fouras, Saint-Laurent-de-la-Prée et Yves intègrent le canton de Châtelaillon-Plage[2].
Les 3 communes Breuil-Magné, Loire-les-Marais et Vergeroux rejoignent le canton de Tonnay-Charente[3].
