  • Le canton de Douarnenez a été modifié en mars 2015, suite au découpage territorial du département du Finistère (Source : Legifrance).
  • Lors de sa modification en 2015, le nouveau canton de Douarnenez comprend 17 communes.
  • Le canton de Douarnenez est formé de communes en provenance de l'ancien canton de Douarnenez (4 communes) ; du canton de Pont-Coix (11 communes) et du canton de Châteaulin (1 commune).
  • Le 1 janvier 2016, les communes de Audierne (commune déléguée) et de Esquibien fusionnent. Ces communes donnent naissance à la commune de Audierne qui prend le statut administratif de commune nouvelle . Son chef-lieu se situe à Audierne. Le canton passe ainsi à 16 communes.
